Join us for an immersive dive into the world of zine-making at our upcoming panel discussion with local zine creators Jingyu Li & Anand Vedawala.

Discover the liberating power of self-expression and community building through this unique, DIY art form as our panelists share their personal insights, creative processes, and the profound impact of zines on marginalized voices and diverse stories. Whether you're a seasoned zine-ster or a newcomer eager to explore this vibrant medium, this panel celebrates ingenuity, inclusivity, and the beauty of handcrafted art—that will ignite your passion for creativity and connection through zine-making.

Jingyu Li was born in Beijing, China. She immigrated to the states at the age of three and grew up in Wyoming with her younger brother. She graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and currently resides in Santa Clara, California. Her poetry appears in Rust & Moth, Palette Poetry, Okay Donkey, Humble Pie Mag, and was longlisted for the 2023 Frontier Poetry Hurt & Healing Prize. Her zines in collaboration with her friend Holly Zhou have been featured at SF Zine Fest, Kearny Street Workshop’s APAture, Bluestockings Cooperative, Silver Sprocket, and Dog Eared Books. She loves dogs of all sizes and her favorite food is hotpot.

Anand Vedawala is a queer South Asian immigrant who is also a kindergarten teacher for San Francisco Unified School District and the executive director of San Francisco Zine Fest. His self-published book 100 Years from Now Our Bones will be Different with Lawrence McWilliams received a starred review from Publishers Weekly, and his zine Hair was declared Best Zine and Best Perzine by Broken Pencil Zine Awards.
